Dr. Jim dela Motte

I was raised in Gillette, Wyoming, a relatively small town in the northeast part of the state. From 1973 to 1988 I worked in logging and perforating – a specialty service industry in the oil field. I was saved in 1984 and fervently served Christ and my local church as much as I was able. Beginning in 1987, the oilfield was slowing down and there was enough work to go around. So in late 1987 and on into 1988, God was directing me to change careers and go to college for the first time. This would mean moving my family to Oklahoma and completely starting over. I was in constant prayer for 6 months to definitely know that this was the direction God wanted me to go. Then at the end of May, we moved. I attended what was then Bartlesville Wesleyan College for 4 years and got my bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science and a minor in Bible. Upon graduating there, I was accepted for graduate studies at Forest Institute of Professional Psychology in Springfield. Little did I know in 1988 that the journey would take me all the way through to a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. I finished my residency in 1997 and immediately went to work for Eaglecrest Counseling Center and have practiced there ever since.
